Lavender fields at Babylonstoren

When I visit Babylonstoren, I am always overwhelmed by the beauty of the planting in the gardens and the variety of the fruits.

But on this occasion, I discovered that the lavender, fresh from their fields is being distilled on-site. You can visit the ‘factory’ during a period when the floral distillery is in operation. The pure, sweet smells of lavender and rosemary is just everywhere in the barn. Floral buds are distilled, capturing the steam and condensing it into a liquid which forms the essential oil.

Soothing!
